Viscount - Company Profile

Viscount - a European Tradition:

Viscount's rich history dates back to 1890 when Antonio Galanti, father of a large family from Mondaino Italy, designed and developed his first keyboard accordions. In subsequent years, he perfected his craft and built the first Viscount workshop in this quaint medieval village situated in the mountains along the Adriatic coast. As time went on, his son Egidio transformed the small workshop into a bustling factory as Viscount became a world power in keyboard manufacturing.

Marcello Galanti:
In 1969, Marcello (3rd generation) left his brothers and founded a company to design and manufacture electronic keyboards. With highly qualified technical staff he set up a research and development laboratory, a wood processing factory, an export sales department, and a thriving home market. Initially, technical and sales efforts were directed towards the Dutch and American markets, and overseas countries.
The company created an interest and desire for musical accomplishment, and increasingly technical and sophisticated instruments were demanded by its growing clientele. Thus, with its highly qualified electronic engineers and dedicated managers, created a comprehensive line of digital pianos and electronic keyboard instruments.

The age of electronics and digital technology:
During the 1960's, with the growth of electronic instruments & technologies and Marcello's leadership, Viscount became one of the world leaders for electronic organs and keyboards. As the technology developed into the world of integrated circuits and digital technology in the early 1980's, Viscount began production of it's first digital pianos - becoming the first company in the world to introduce digital piano technology in elegant wood cabinets.

Mauro Galanti and the New Viscount:
In the 1990's, Mauro Galanti - a 4th generation direct descendant of Antonio, founded the "Futura" workshop in Ancona Italy as well as a new wood processsing factory (S.C.S.) and research laboratory (R.T.E.). The objective: to develop digital pianos that combine the world's most advanced piano technologies with exquisite hand-crafted styling.

S.C.S. :

Growing and developing alongside is a company called S.C.S. that produces hand-crafted wood cabinets for the Viscount instruments. It uses the latest woodworking machinery and techniques as well as a team of skilled craftsmen to ensure that all the instruments are made according to the strict European styling standards.

R.T.E. :

In an age where technological expertise is paramount, there is a need to have a company of highly qualified engineers to provide technical planning (matching current technology with proven components). The R.T.E. research and development company was created to adapt technical and aesthetic experience and knowledge, to meet all the requirements of a growing global company. The engineers and developers at Viscount's R.T.E factory are the world's finest!

Viscount Today:

In 2003, Viscount introduced it's breakthrough iMotion sound technology - providing unsurpassed realism while playing the piano. This incredible new technology took Viscount's team of engineers more than 3 years to create. Viscount's long tradition in woodworking and cabinets merged with this new technology to offer the market a new complete line of digital pianos unequalled in quality of craftsmanship and design. Viscount's collection of digital pianos include more than 15 different models, 10 different finishes and a variety of useful accessories. Viscount - a European tradition.
